Dillon Brooks Reveals Cold Truth About Memphis Grizzlies cover image

Dillon Brooks spoke very honestly about his Grizzlies' tenure.

When Dillon Brooks was a member of the Memphis Grizzlies he was public enemy number one. He was the villain of not only the Grizzlies but of the NBA. The only problem was, both Brooks and some NBA fans felt that he was scapegoated there.

In an exclusive interview with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, Dillon Brooks spoke very honestly about being a villain in the NBA and what he didn't like about his tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies.

“What I didn’t like about Memphis was they allowed that so they can get out of the woodwork, and then I’m the scapegoat of it all," Brook said to Mannix. "That’s what I didn’t appreciate. And then ultimately they’ll come to me on the low, as men, one on one and tell me something, but then not defend me when everything went down.”

While Dillon Brooks definitely brought a lot of the criticism that he received on himself, he isn't wrong in some aspects. For one, he was the one who chose to dodge the media after criticizing LeBron and then losing in the playoffs right after. On the other end, the Memphis Grizzlies went out of their way to leak to the media that they wouldn't be re-signing him "under any circumstances."

That specific gesture by the Grizzlies was incredibly uncalled for when it's clear that the team enabled Brooks to be who he is. Regardless, Dillon Brooks is thriving with the Houston Rockets in a redemption arc, while the Grizzlies are struggling tremendously without Ja Morant.
