If the Memphis Grizzlies don't take Cameron Boozer, a lot of people in the NBA world will be surprised.
All signs point toward the Memphis Grizzlies taking former Duke star Cameron Boozer with the third overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
Here is the latest intel on Boozer and the Grizzlies, via Jeremy Woo of ESPN.
"Not much has changed for Boozer as he enters what should be a straightforward draft night," Woo wrote. "Sources say he visited Memphis last week and previously visited Chicago and Utah, covering all bases other than Washington. Although he is under consideration in Utah, where his father is part of the front office, rival teams believe the Jazz will have a hard time passing on AJ Dybantsa or DarrynPeterson.
"There is a similar level of confidence around the league in the Grizzlies' interest in Boozer, with Memphis one of the most analytically driven front offices and the historically productive Duke star sitting atop draft models."
Boozer was the top player in college basketball this past season, which is why he won the Player of the Year Award. The Duke forward averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 78.9% from the free-throw line.
At the NBA Combine in Chicago, Boozer measured at 6-8¼ without shoes. He weighed 253 pounds, his standing reach was 9-0 and his wingspan was 7-1½.
Boozer, the son of former NBA star Carlos Boozer, was asked at the Combine to name the skill he possesses that will transfer immediately to the pros. Cameron spoke about his feel for the game and his competitive instincts.
"I think my mind for sure," Cameron said. "I just think my feel for the game is elite. My competitiveness, my will to win, I think those are the biggest things that are going to translate."
The Grizzlies went 25-57 in 2025-26. They are widely expected to trade Ja Morant this offseason after sending Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz at the February trade deadline. Memphis is in rebuild mode, but its rebuild could be a quick one with Cameron in the fold.
NBA Draft analyst Sam Vecenie of The Athletic is very high on Cameron. Vecenie believes Cameron "is the safest bet in the class to become a remarkably productive player."
Memphis has never won an NBA championship. Only time will tell if the franchise can ever reach the promised land.
The top four picks in this year's draft are widely expected to be Cameron, Caleb Wilson, Darryn Peterson and AJ Dybantsa.
