The 19-year-old, who was still 18 for a majority of Summer League play, helped the Grizzlies reach the Summer League title game and was fantastic along the way.
Now, he has something to show for it: All-Summer League First Team recognition.
Boozer made the cut along with the Brayden Burries of the Milwaukee Bucks, Yaxel Lendeborg of the Golden State Warriors, Meleek Thomas of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Caleb Wilson of the Chicago Bulls.
Lendeborg was also named Summer League MVP.
Boozer, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, came to play this summer. While many top picks often play a limited number of games before sitting the rest of the way in Summer League action, Boozer made a whopping eight total appearances between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas.
While the All-Summer League nod is a result of his play in Vegas specifically, he made an impact wherever he was this month. Across his eight total games, he averaged 18.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game while shooting 49.0 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from beyond the arc.
His commitment to playing through the Summer League finish line was an awesome sight to see, and he played multiple back-to-backs in the process. He only missed one game this summer, which came in Salt Lake City before the Vegas portion of the schedule began.
Several other Grizzlies also appeared in every game in Vegas, including rising sophomore Cedric Coward, who was fantastic himself and took home All-Summer League Second Team honors.
Memphis came to win a title, and that level of commitment is a great sign moving forward for a team that is going to have to rely a lot on its young talent.
In the Summer League title game in Vegas, the Grizzlies had a chance to accomplish their goal of winning it all, and they were in the driver's seat in the final minutes. Unfortunately for Memphis, a late push by the Warriors was enough to change the dynamic, and Golden State walked away with a 94-90 victory.
Lendeborg, the Summer League MVP, had 21 points and 10 rebounds in the title game. On the Memphis side, Boozer had 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists while Coward had 19 points, six rebounds and four assists.
While the loss in the title game may leave a sour taste behind for the Grizzlies for a little while, there are clearly reasons to be excited about what the 2026-27 season will hold.
