The 2026 NBA Draft is six days away, and speculation is growing that Texas Tech guard Christian Anderson could be selected by the Memphis Grizzlies, with one sports reporter saying the possibility should not come as a surprise. 

Anderson has been projected to be taken late in the first round, but he has been making an impression, causing his stock to rise. The Grizzlies enter this month's draft with three draft picks (No.3, No.16, No.32). 

No Ceilings writer, Nathan Grubel, believes that Anderson would provide Memphis with a huge offensive boost and that no one should be surprised if he is drafted at No.16.

"The Christian Anderson to Memphis Grizzlies buzz SHOULD NOT surprise anyone when you really break it down," Grubel tweeted on June 17 on X. 

"He's an unbelievable shooter off the dribble, off the catch, and you can run him off screens. In navigating PnR, he's the best ball screen passer in this draft. If letting him use screens is the most important aspect of making him a high ceiling offensive player, he'd be working with the best center screener in the league in Zach Edey, and another highly versatile screener in Cameron Boozer (projected at 3)," he added.

Recent mock drafts project Memphis taking Cameron Boozer at No.3, which most believe is a sure thing, except Bill Simmons. In a recent episode on his podcast, he explained that Danny Ainge will pass on Darryn Peterson and select Boozer at No.2. 

Nonetheless, the Grizzlies have depth at the guard position, but they have struggled to shoot from three consistently, shooting 35.3 percent from three. 

Anderson shot 41.5 percent from three and only attempted roughly seven per game. He finished his sophomore season averaging 18.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.4 assists while shooting 47.2 percent from the field.

The Atlanta native could provide Memphis with a quick guard who can score from all three phases. He would be able to help this team if they decide to keep Ja Morant or trade him. 

Anderson will help this team space the floor with his shooting, his playmaking ability, and his ability to play with pace will be valuable to a Memphis team that struggled to execute in late-game situations. 

On the flip side, scouts worry about his size and frame, along with his defensive ability. 

Taking the 6-foot-3 guard could be an option for the Grizzlies with their second pick in the draft at No. 16.
