The Memphis Grizzlies finished the NBA Draft on day two by selecting Richie Saunders to add to their backcourt, and early grades are in for the franchise's rebuilding strategy. 

Memphis selected Cameron Boozer with the No.3 overall pick. Memphis's draft night took an unexpected turn after they moved the No.16 pick, triggering a series of trades that reshaped their first-round plans. Memphis eventually landed López, who the Detroit Pistons selected at No.21 before his rights were traded to the Grizzlies.

However, during the second day of the draft, the franchise decided to make a selection with its original selection of No.32. Memphis selected Saunders out of BYU to add shooting to its backcourt and Bleacher Report's report card is in. 

Bleacher Report's NBA Staff provided the grades for the entire second round, and they graded out Saunders at No.32. "There isn't much mystery with Richie Saunders, who logged more than 3,000 minutes over the last four seasons and turns 25 in September," wrote Bleacher Report on June 24.

"Well, other than perhaps with his recovery from an ACL tear that he suffered in February," they added.

Entering the draft, the Grizzlies wanted to address their frontcourt depth, primary shot-creation, and possible franchise cornerstones (replace Ja Morant, possibly). Saunders being selected at No.32 isn't much of a risk considering their selections in the first round.

Saunders will turn 25 this September and provides Memphis with a mature player out of college who has been attached to a basketball system for a specific amount of time. The NBA staff graded Saunders' selection with a B-. 

"Whenever he gets healthy, he should consistently supply outside shooting, insatiable energy, and smart decision-making. Of course, he'll also have underwhelming physical tools, limited creations, and one of the shorter ceilings in this draft. At this range, that's not as big a deal, especially with decent height for a wing. And on a team that already has plenty of young talent on the wings, Saunders' experience brings a nice balance," they added.

Memphis, which may be on the verge of trading Ja Morant, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, is looking to rebuild. Adding Saunders despite his health could be a solid addition and gamble for this team as they look toward the future.

While nothing is set in stone, the Grizzlies will be participating in the Utah and Las Vegas Summer leagues to help evaluate and develop their talent.
