A former Memphis Grizzlies player has made a bold LeBron James prediction.
A former Memphis Grizzlies player believes LeBron James will join the Golden State Warriors this summer.
Dillon Brooks, who currently plays for the Phoenix Suns, thinks LeBron will sign with the Warriors to play alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
Brooks spent the first six years of his NBA career with the Grizzlies. He averaged 14.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in the regular season and 16.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game in the playoffs.
The Grizzlies won only one postseason series in the Brooks era. That was back in 2022.
Memphis chose not to re-sign Brooks in the summer of 2023. Brooks joined the Houston Rockets, but he spent only two years in Houston before getting traded to Phoenix in the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade.
Brooks holds career averages of 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the regular season and 16.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in the playoffs. The 30-year-old said he is one of LeBron's biggest haters.
It's going to be a while before the Grizzlies make the playoffs again, but at least they have a young building block in Cameron Boozer, the third overall pick in this year's draft. In the post-Ja Morant era, Memphis is building around Boozer, Zach Edey, Cedric Coward, GG Jackson, Karim López and Jaylen Wells.
Boozer is the new franchise player in Memphis and he looks like he has the skills to be a perennial All-Star.
"Boozer already very much looks the part of an NBA player with the body and size that towered over his peers during his first action in Las Vegas," Jamal Collier of ESPN wrote. "His skills, shooting and strength are already advantages that made it easy to see why he had, perhaps, the highest floor of any of the top prospects. And getting to play a few games at Salt Lake City summer league helped him prepare to be more comfortable in his first Vegas appearance."
It will be fascinating to see where LeBron is playing next season and how Brooks matches up with Boozer. In any other draft, Boozer may have gone first. Memphis is lucky AJ Dybantsa went to the Washington Wizards and Darryn Peterson went to the Utah Jazz.
Boozer won the NCAA Player of the Year Award last season. The Duke forward averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 78.9% from the free-throw line.
