As the 2026 NBA Draft approaches, the Memphis Grizzlies have done a ton of work scouting players.
In the NBA world, it's common practice for prospects to work out with teams around the league before the draft each year.
But that doesn't mean all teams facilitate an equal number of workouts, and when it comes to the Memphis Grizzlies, they've been particularly busy doing some predraft homework this year.
According to Rookie Wire's tracker, more than 50 players are known to have worked out with the Grizzlies ahead of the 2026 NBA Draft. Most other teams around the league don't have nearly as many players listed on the tracker.
That could have something to do with the fact that the Grizzlies have three picks in the upcoming draft. Their most notable pick will come at No. 3 overall, but they are also scheduled to make selections at No. 16 and No. 32 overall.
The Grizzlies won the right to pick at No. 3 overall thanks to some lottery luck.
Duke University product Cameron Boozer has drawn a lot of projections to Memphis with that pick. While it's not a guarantee as of now that he will be the selection, he would certainly be an exciting addition for the franchise.
In his lone season at Duke, he averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game while shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from beyond the arc. That type of production is incredibly rare for a freshman, especially in a conference like the ACC. He took home a laundry list of personal accolades, including AP Player of the Year honors nationally.
But the Grizzlies' interest in seeing so many players work out certainly isn't entirely because they have the No. 3 pick. They also have to be prepared to make selections at No. 16 and No. 32, and with the board always so unpredictable as the draft rolls on, Memphis needs to be ready for anything.
In addition, the team may have a chance to add some undrafted talent after the second round concludes if it's interested in any players who go unselected. It's very likely that some of the players who have worked out with the Grizzlies will end up as UDFA hopefuls.
One way or another, Memphis is hoping to turn its ship around after a woeful 2025-26 season that saw the team lose 57 games and miss the playoffs. A successful draft is a good place to start, and the franchise is clearly doing a lot of work to get ready.
