Cameron Boozer's polished all-around game and status as the most draft-ready prospect in the 2026 class make him a compelling option for the Memphis Grizzlies.
As the NBA Draft approaches, the Memphis Grizzlies could have an opportunity to land Cameron Boozer with the No. 3 pick; an ESPN college basketball analyst has labeled him the most NBA-ready player in the 2026 draft class.
The NBA Draft will kick off on June 23 and will conclude on the 24. Boozer has been projected on numerous mock drafts to be taken at No.3 by the Grizzlies. On June 19, an ESPN college basketball analyst explained why the Duke forward is the most NBA ready player in the draft.
Sean Farnham expressed his belief in Boozer on June 19 on ESPN's First Take. "If you're going to make an immediate impact at that next level, you need to be there and be accountable every single night for your organization, and that's where I feel Cam Boozer has an edge over Darryn Peterson," said Farnham.
Next Steps in Memphis
The Memphis Grizzlies have three picks in this year's draft. The team has the No.3, No.16, and No.32 draft picks.
Over the last two seasons, trade rumors have surrounded the Grizzlies and the possibility of trading Ja Morant. As of now, there are a few rumored teams linked to Morant, but the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls, and Minnesota Timberwolves have officially expressed interest.
Regardless of whether Memphis trades Morant or not, the selection of Boozer would help provide depth to the team and stability in the frontcourt, along with Zach Edey.
Boozer finished his freshman year at Duke averaging 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. He also shot 39.1 percent from three while averaging 33.5 minutes per game.
The 6-foot-9 forward played all 38 games during his freshman campaign.
Draft Possibility
While most mock drafts have Boozer going No.3, Bill Simmons, host of the Ringer, believes he will go second.
"I've been thinking a lot because I do think Dybantsa is going to go first," said Simmons.
"Regardless of how we try to talk, the Boozer thing is that I just think he's going to go first. I think Danny is such a wild card at second, and there's no way to predict it. You think it's going to happen with Peterson, but I think there are too many red flags. I don't think he's going to stay away from Peterson," he added.
If Boozer does not get selected at No. 2 by the Jazz, as Simmons predicted, the Grizzlies should use their first pick in the draft to select the most accessible and possibly the best NBA prospect.
