This NBA trade idea sends Ja Morant to the Miami Heat and Tyler Herro to the Memphis Grizzlies.

A blockbuster NBA trade idea sending Ja Morant to the Miami Heat and Tyler Herro to the Memphis Grizzlies has been created by Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report.

Hughes created the following one-for-one trade idea between the Heat and Grizzlies:

Heat Acquire: Ja Morant

Grizzlies Acquire: Tyler Herro

"Sometimes, simplicity has its merits," Hughes wrote. "This is a one-for-one challenge trade in which the Heat simply send Herro to Memphis and bank on Morant returning to form. While Miami could certainly construct packages using Andrew Wiggins (if he picks up his player option) or some combination of Nikola Jović and salary filler, using Herro as the matching salary makes sense. He and Morant couldn't play together in a competent backcourt, and the Grizzlies would probably be open to the idea of acquiring a player who was an All-Star more recently than Morant. Herro's deal also expires a year sooner and would save the Grizzlies $9.2 million in 2026-27 salary."

Morant will make $42,166,510 next season, while Herro will make $33,000,000 in the final year of his deal. Neither All-Star has a no-trade clause.

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that the Grizzlies are widely expected to trade Morant this offseason. According to ESPN, Morant has told people that he's done playing for the Grizzlies, who selected the guard with the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Murray State.

A two-time All-Star, Morant still hasn't gotten over the Grizzlies suspending him earlier this season for conduct detrimental to the team.

Meanwhile, the Heat are open to moving Herro to acquire more talent around All-Star big man Bam Adebayo. They are doing everything they can to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. If Miami fails to land Antetokounmpo, Hall of Famer Pat Riley could pivot to Morant.

Morant averaged 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game for the Grizzlies this season, while Herro put up 20.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for the Heat. Memphis and Miami missed the playoffs.

It will be fascinating to see where Morant is playing next season. Herro probably needs a change of scenery as well since he's been dangled in trade talks for three years now.
