On Monday, Golden State Warriors restricted free agent Quinten Post reportedly signed a three-year offer sheet with the Memphis Grizzlies worth $30 million.

That leaves the Warriors with a choice to make, as they must decide whether they want to match the offer and retain Post or lose him.

For the two-year NBA pro, the contract is a nice win no matter which team he ends up with, but there is an important factor to note. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, only the first season of the offer sheet is guaranteed.

"Only the first season of Quinten Post’s three-year, $30 million offer sheet from Memphis is guaranteed, per sources," Fischer wrote on X. "Yet there are ~$1.3M in unlikely incentives each season if Post were to make an All-Defense Team, so that extra money would count against the Warriors’ apron salary regardless of whether Post earns those accolades. Tricky provision Golden State has to consider before matching."

No matter what happens from here, Post can feel good about going from a second-round pick to a coveted piece in free agency.

The Warriors rolled the dice on the big man at No. 52 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, and he's used his size and shooting to show his value at the pro level.

As a rookie, he appeared in 42 games and made 14 starts, averaging 8.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 40.8 percent from 3. He showed enough in his rookie campaign for Golden State to use him in 12 playoff games in 2025.

Then, as a sophomore, the Warriors used him as a starter in many cases, as he made 67 appearances and 35 starts. He averaged 7.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game while shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 33.6 percent from deep.

He would certainly be an intriguing piece for the Grizzlies, as he may be able to reach another level depending on his role. At worst, he projects as a productive role player.

But Memphis can't start making any plans involving the 26-year-old just yet, as Golden State still has a chance to retain him. Since Post is a player the Warriors drafted and developed themselves, they may be inclined to stick with him.

The Boston College product will have to wait and see what his future holds.
