3 Win-Now Trade Targets Grizzlies Could Consider After 4-0 Start

Memphis is off to a 4-0 start. Jrue Holiday, Anthony Black and Derrick Jones Jr. are three potential win-now trade targets worth considering.

At 4-0, the Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the best teams in the NBA in 2026-27. If they want to keep the good times rolling, they could consider making a win-now trade before the deadline.

Is this an overreaction? Perhaps. Memphis should get at least 10 games into the season before it considers making major moves.

This roster is young. The Grizzlies can justify prioritizing the future no matter how their season is looking. That said, if they keep winning, they could also justify an unexpected win-now move.

If that's the direction they're taking, here are three trade targets they could consider.

Related stories

1. Jrue Holiday, Portland Trail Blazers

Holiday's contract is large. To make a move work, the Grizzlies would have to explore trading Jerami Grant back to Portland. Whether that's a worthy endeavor is another question.

In 2026-27, Grant has been the better player. Grant is hitting 38.9% of his 3-pointers, while Holiday is struggling at 25.0%.

Counterpoint: Holiday has played two games.

He's historically been more impactful than Grant, and just as significantly, the Grizzlies need additional ball-handling more than they need another wing. They could add Holiday, and he'd contribute to their defensive culture while providing an offensive skill set the team needs.

Although Memphis could prefer a younger target who provides the same.

2. Anthony Black, Orlando Magic

When it comes to Black, it's fair to wonder if he could even be available.

Why would he be?

The 22-year-old has only suited up once in 2026-27, but last year, the 6-foot-7 point guard averaged 15.0 points per game on reasonable efficiency while providing secondary playmaking and excellent defense.

This is an interesting young player.

Yet, he does not have an extension with the Orlando Magic. Black is slated to hit restricted free agency this summer.

Who knows? The Magic might look to move him before they're forced to choose between giving him a huge contract or losing him for nothing.

Alternatively, the Grizzlies could look at more modest targets.

3. Derrick Jones Jr., Los Angeles Clippers

Who says it has to be a point guard?

Yes, the Grizzlies are loaded at the forward positions. They're also starting to thin the herd. Olivier Maxence-Prosper hasn't seen the floor yet, GG Jackson II plays 14.8 minutes per game, and Taylor Hendricks plays just 6.9.

So, even if it doesn't feel like there's room on the roster for a wing, there's room in the rotation.

How about a top-tier defender who's hitting 53.8% of his 3-pointers?

Granted, that's an unsustainable figure, but Jones has provided enough shooting to complement his defense throughout the later stages of his career. He could elevate this Grizzlies team.

The Los Angeles Clippers would have to be willing to move him, and Memphis would have to decide whether another wing is really its biggest need.

That's the larger question with all three players.

The Grizzlies don't need to force anything after four games. But if this start proves sustainable, the conversation around their deadline could look much different than anyone expected.

Memphis may eventually have to decide whether this season is still about building for the future or whether it's time to accelerate the timeline.
