The Grizzlies could move Ty Jerome before the trade deadline. The Rockets, Heat, and Suns stand out as three possible suitors.
The Memphis Grizzlies are rebuilding, so they may not want to hang on to veteran guard Ty Jerome all season. If they decide to move him, he'll have no shortage of suitors.
If there's a knock on Jerome, it's the fact that he so frequently gets injured. Durability has been a nagging concern for Jerome, but when he does get on the floor, he's a sensational player. In 2025-26, he averaged 19.7 points and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 42.0% from deep in the 15 games he was available.
Ideally, he'll stay healthy up to the trade deadline. If he does, contenders will come knocking.
Here are three teams that could take a look at Jerome.
Houston Rockets
When it comes to ball-handling, the Rockets are in a strange spot.
This team is stacked with defense and rebounding. Kevin Durant's ability to get a bucket remains elite, and young guys like wing Amen Thompson, center Alperen Sengun and others have plenty of talent.
Yet, third-year guard Reed Sheppard has not looked ready for point guard duties yet. Thompson looked more like a secondary playmaker. Marcus Smart is a defensive specialist, and nobody knows how Fred VanVleet will look after coming back from a season-long injury.
In short, the Rockets may need a point guard. If one of their young players takes a leap, they may not. They're a suitor to watch for Jerome.
But if they don't want him, someone else will.
Miami Heat
There's one major difference between the Rockets and the Heat. The Rockets have a large collection of assets to move if they want Jerome.
The Heat do not.
That said, Jerome had better stay healthy, or else his trade value could be minimal. Consider Miami a worst-case scenario suitor. If Jerome has had to miss time, the Heat could come around looking for a discount.
On the Grizzlies' end, the 23-year-old forward Nikola Jovic could be worth a flyer. Otherwise, the Heat don't have much to offer.
Perhaps we're still looking for the perfect suitor.
Phoenix Suns
Remember those Rockets assets? Some of them come by way of the Phoenix Suns.
So, they may not be an optimal suitor either. Phoenix has some intriguing young players, but some of them may be too valuable to flip for Jerome. The Suns won't move Khaman Maluach. What about Rasheer Fleming?
One thing is certain: The Suns have little incentive to lose. They owe many of their future first-round picks to other teams. They could use a floor-spacing playmaker like Jerome, so depending on how their season is going, they could be interested in acquiring him.
Surely, the Grizzlies have no reason to keep him.
