After finishing play in Salt Lake City, the team continued its Summer League slate on Thursday with a dominant showing against the San Antonio Spurs. Atlanta won each quarter of the game and walked away with a 93-66 victory.
All three players the Hawks landed in the 2026 NBA Draft were in action against San Antonio, and the one with the best game was the one who was picked the latest.
No. 52 overall pick Henri Veesaar had a great game off the bench, dropping 14 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field and 2-for-5 shooting from deep. He also added six boards.
Higher picks Kingston Flemings (No. 8 overall) and Zuby Ejiofor (No. 23 overall) also got in on the action, though neither one had a particularly memorable showing.
Flemings was limited to just five points on 2-for-7 shooting from the field. To his credit, he dished out eight assists.
Meanwhile, Ejiofor got into the scoring column with 12 points, but he too shot just 2-for-7 from the field. He did add four rebounds and three assists.
For Atlanta, other notable contributors were Asa Newell (15 points, five rebounds, two assists and two "stocks"), Isaac McKneely (10 points, two rebounds and two assists), RayJ Dennis (10 points, two rebounds, three assists and three steals), Kobe Johnson (11 points, eight rebounds and three "stocks") and Keshon Gilbert (10 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals).
On the other side, the Spurs had four players in double figures, but the team shot just 33.8 percent from the field and 11.8 percent from beyond the arc. It also turned the ball over 22 times. None of those factors are good ingredients for success at the NBA level, even if it's just Summer League ball.
The Hawks' next game in Vegas will come on Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets.
One storyline to monitor will be whether Flemings can get going as a scorer as the Vegas slate continues. While the youngster has been a very good playmaker so far in Summer League action (7.3 assists per contest in three games), he has yet to find his groove scoring the ball. He's averaging 10.3 points per game while shooting just 30.3 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from long range.
It would be exciting to see the Hawks make a run for the Summer League title in Vegas, but they might need Flemings to start hitting some more shots if they want to maximize their chances at the crown.
