It has already been a busy summer for the Atlanta Hawks, and they're going to maintain that theme with a busy Summer League schedule.
It has already been a busy summer for the Atlanta Hawks, and they're going to maintain that theme with a busy Summer League schedule.
The Hawks will participate in Summer League action in both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas this year. That should give their youngsters plenty of opportunities to see the floor in July, an exciting fact since the team added a lot of talent during and after the draft.
To start things off, the Hawks will play three games in Salt Lake City. Their schedule looks like this:
- July 4 vs. Utah Jazz, 5 p.m. ET
- July 6 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder, 7 p.m. ET
- July 7 vs. Memphis Grizzlies, 7 p.m. ET
After that, they won't have much time to regroup before their Las Vegas schedule begins. They will open things up in Las Vegas on July 9, with their schedule looking like this:
- July 9 vs. San Antonio Spurs, 4:30 p.m. ET
- July 11 vs. Brooklyn Nets, 8 p.m. ET
- July 13 vs. Boston Celtics, 6 p.m. ET
- July 16 vs. Memphis Grizzlies 8 p.m. ET
The Hawks are also guaranteed to play at least one other additional game in Las Vegas following those four.
Atlanta landed three players in the draft earlier this week, picking up Kingston Flemings, Zuby Ejiofor and Henri Veesaar. The team has also been active on the undrafted free-agent market, reportedly signing Isaac McKneely to an Exhibit 10 deal.
Those players are all candidates to get some action this summer. Flemings is sure to get a lot of attention, as he was the highest player selected by Atlanta.
Taken at No. 8 overall, he figures to become a key piece of the puzzle for the Hawks moving forward. He spent just one season at the collegiate level and made the most of it, averaging 16.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game with the University of Houston. He secured All-American honors along the way.
Meanwhile, there will be other youngsters to watch for the Hawks as they navigate their Summer League schedule, but fans will have to wait a bit longer for an official roster to drop. July should be a fun month as folks will get a chance to enjoy some of the players who could shape the future of the organization.
The Hawks are hoping to turn a corner after making the playoffs this past season but being eliminated in the first round.
