Atlanta Hawks and Gray Media struck a deal putting all non-nationally televised games on WANF for free, as the roster retools around Jalen Johnson.
The Atlanta Hawks have unveiled a new way for fans to watch the franchise all season, announcing that all locally televised, non-nationally broadcast games will be available for free.
Atlanta will enter the 2026-27 season without Trae Young in the backcourt and the face of the franchise being Jalen Johnson. Gray Media and the Atlanta Hawks announced their partnership on July 16 via a press release on the Hawks website.
"Gray Media and the Atlanta Hawks today announced a landmark broadcast partnership that will bring all non-nationally televised Atlanta Hawks regular-season games to Gray Media's Atlanta broadcast television station WANF (Atlanta News First) and Peachtree Sports during the 2026-27 NBA Season," according to the Atlanta Hawks Press Release on July 16.
"The agreement makes WANF the official broadcast television commitment for Hawks Basketball with each available game being broadcast for free over the air," per the franchise press release.
Atlanta's Future
Free agency opened on June 30, but Atlanta's front office has been adding pieces since the NBA Draft. The franchise drafted Kingston Flemings at No. 8 and Zuby Ejiofor at No.23.
Both players have been active in Summer league play. Flemings averaged 11 points, 7.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in Utah; however, he has struggled to find his shot at times. Ejofor, on the other hand, turned some heads as he averaged 13.5 points, 13 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. He also finished one game with a double-double of 19 points and 15 rebounds against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In addition to drafting two young explosive players, the organization extended CJ McCollum to a one-year, $21 million contract and signed Jock Landale to a one-year, $14 million contract. Coupled with the signings, Atlanta traded for Aaron Wiggins from the Oklahoma City Thunder for two second-round picks.
The franchise acquired Devin Carter from the Sacramento Kings. Both Wiggins and Carter are under 30 years old. Right now, if the season started today, the starting lineup could consist of McCollum, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Dyson Daniels, Jalen Johnson, and Onyeka Okongwu.
Despite the possible strength in the roster, Atlanta reported that forward Mouhamed Gueye, who is a role player, was diagnosed with a fractured left foot and underwent surgery on July 15.
Next Steps
The Hawks' next matchup in the Las Vegas Summer League will be against the Memphis Grizzlies, who drafted Cameron Boozer No.3 overall in this year's draft at 8:00 p.m. EST time on Amazon Prime.
Both teams are in two different phases of a rebuild and look to help their rookie talent develop before the regular season starts in October.
