The Hawks head to the Utah and Las Vegas Summer Leagues to develop their 2026 draft class, with Kingston Flemings and Zuby Ejiofor set to debut.
With the 2026 NBA Draft one day away, the Atlanta Hawks hold three selections and several roster questions to answer. However, the franchise's young talent will possibly be playing in the Utah and Las Vegas Summer league.
Atlanta may use all three draft selections to add young talent and continue building its young core. Needless to say, whoever is drafted by the Hawks in the 2026 draft will be young talent participating in the Summer League.
On June 22, Atlanta released its three-game schedule for the Utah Summer League, which starts on July 4. According to current NBA mock drafts, the organization is predicted to draft Kingston Flemings with the No. 8 pick, and the Hawks would go on to select Flemings at No. 8 and Zuby Ejiofor at No. 23.
The Hawks will maximize both Summer leagues to help develop their young talent, and Onsi Saleh said on Monday that he does not plan to take any shortcuts.
Developing Hawks
The Utah Summer League begins on July 4 and ends on July 7. Two days after the conclusion of Utah's Summer League, the Las Vegas showcase will begin.
Along with Atlanta's three draft picks, the team will have $30 million in cap space this offseason. The franchise made the postseason but lost 2-4 in the first round to the New York Knicks, revealing that the team lacked bench depth, shooting, playmaking, and ball-handling.
Before the Summer league's begin the franchise will focus on delivering a strong draft night and building through free agency. On June 21, the franchise extended CJ McCollum, and he will return to the franchise on a 1-year, $21 million deal, which will help keep the veteran presence.
McCollum knocked down two game-winning shots against the New York Knicks in the first round.
Hawks President of Basketball Operations, Onsi Saleh, spoke to reporters today on the extension and the importance of not cutting any corners in the draft. He emphasized the importance of building the roster.
"We're really excited about adding a couple guys and seeing how the process goes," said Saleh during a June 22 press conference. "Like we said before, no skipping steps. Want to grow this thing out organically. I just feel like we're going to add two really good players tomorrow in the draft, and uh, we have a lot of opportunities to move forward with this group," he added.
Whoever the Hawks select in the draft, the franchise wants to ensure that they fit the culture and can grow with the team. The Hawks made the postseason for the first time in two seasons and they did so after trading Trae Young during the season.
