Coby White on the Atlanta Hawks would be fun.
The Atlanta Hawks have been urged to target Coby White in free agency this offseason.
White played for the Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets this season.
"White should be the top target because he gives the Hawks something they need badly after Trae Young: a real guard scorer who can still grow with the group," Francisco Leiva of Fadeaway World wrote.
The Hornets acquired White from the Bulls in Feburary. In 21 games with Charlotte, White played well. He averaged 15.6 points per game while shooting 46.1% from the field, 39.1% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the foul line.
Before free agency starts on June 30, the Hornets can sign White to a three-year, $52.4 million extension. If White hits free agency, he can meet with other teams.
The 26-year-old White finished the 2025-26 season averaging 17.4 points per game with the Bulls and Hornets. He's a talented scorer, shooter and slasher.
Chicago drafted White with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. White has career averages of 15.4 points per game.
The Hornets didn't make the playoffs this season, while the Hawks lost to the New York Knicks in the first round in six games. Adding White to Atlanta's core of Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker wouldn't be a bad move at all by Onsi Saleh.
White has been ranked as the 24th-best free agent this summer. NBA analyst Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has White ahead of Los Angeles Lakers guard Luke Kennard but behind Philadelphia 76ers guard Quentin Grimes.
Atlanta enters the 2026 NBA Draft with two first-round picks (No. 8 and No. 23), in addition to the No. 57 pick. The Hawks are the only playoff team to secure a top-10 pick in this year's draft.
The Hawks made two blockbuster trades this season. They traded Young to the Washington Wizards and sent Kristaps Porziņģis to the Golden State Warriors.
Saleh acquired Corey Kispert and CJ McCollum from Washington and Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield from Golden State.
Like White, McCollum enters unrestricted free agency this summer. Could the Hawks let McCollum walk and sign White as his replacement? Only time will tell.
