Hawks bolster backcourt with awarding Keshon Gilbert a two-way contract, adding a player with G-League experience to their roster.

The Atlanta Hawks have signed guard Keshon Gilbert to a two-way contract, the team announced Wednesday. Per team policy, the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Gilbert joins RayJ Dennis as Atlanta's two-way guards, giving the Hawks a pair of young backcourt players on developmental deals for the remainder of the season.

The 6-4 guard got his first taste of the NBA this season on a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards, which ran from Feb. 6-16. He appeared in three games during that stretch, making his league debut Feb. 7 at Brooklyn and recording four points, three rebounds, two assists, and three blocks in his first professional game.

Prior to his brief Washington stint, Gilbert spent the bulk of his season with the Capital City Go-Go, the Wizards' G League affiliate. In 37 games, he averaged 15.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.5 steals in 28.4 minutes — establishing himself as one of the more complete playmakers in the league this season.

The highlight of his G League campaign came Jan. 1 at Westchester, when Gilbert posted a 25-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist triple-double, his first of his professional career. The performance made him one of only eight players in the NBA G League to record at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in a single game during the regular season. Dennis is also on that list.

Gilbert, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, played four collegiate seasons at UNLV (2021-23) and Iowa State (2023-25), appearing in 129 games with 98 starts and averaging 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.7 steals in 26.2 minutes. He earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors in 2023-24 and Third Team recognition in 2024-25.

He left Ames having carved out a place in program history, ranking 18th all-time at Iowa State in both career steals (123) and assists (274). In three NCAA Tournament appearances, Gilbert tallied eight steals — the seventh-most in program history.

The 22-year-old went undrafted in 2025 and enters his first multi-game stretch with an NBA organization after demonstrating in Washington and throughout the G League season that his defensive instincts and playmaking ability translate at the next level.

Separately, Jonathan Kuminga is a late addition to the injury report ahead of Atlanta's matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks. Kuminga is dealing with left knee inflammation, and the team has not yet announced his final status for the game.
