
The Hawks dominate the Celtics in a pivotal rematch, extending their home streak to 13 games with a thunderous third-quarter surge.
Dyson Daniels hit two 3-pointers! In the Atlanta Hawks' 112-102 bounce-back win against the Boston Celtics. Atlanta and Boston squared off just four days ago, which saw the Celtics come on top, but on Monday, the Hawks got the best of the Celtics to extend their home winning streak to 13 games. It's a new State Farm Arena record!
Atlanta is now 43-33 on the season, and Monday night's win was so critical because of the status of the opponent. The Hawks are a true threat in the Eastern Conference, and the conference needs to be on notice after Monday's big win.
Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu led the Hawks in scoring with 20 points each. Dyson Daniels scored 18 (with 2 made threes), and Nickeil Alexander-Walker posted 17 points.
Johnson added 12 rebounds, and Okongwu added another 10. The Hawks assisted on 28 of their 43 made field goals in the win, which again highlights how exceptional the Hawks have been playing as of late, and this is also a battle-tested, resilient group.
Monday marked the last home game for the Hawks in March. Atlanta did not lose a single game at State Farm Arena this month.
The Celtics and Hawks were deadlocked at 54 heading into halftime, but Atlanta exploded in the third quarter to outscore Boston 36-22. Atlanta did not take its foot off the pedal in the final frame and coasted to another blowout victory.
Boston was without Jayson Tatum and Neemias Queta on Monday, and didn't get the greatest performance from Jaylen Brown in his return from a 2 game absence. Brown shot 9-for-29 from the field, but still scored a game-high 30 points.
Four different Hawks players recorded 5+ assists, and six different players scored double-digit points on Monday.
What's next for the Hawks? Just six games are remaining on the NBA schedule for Atlanta. They will take on the Nets, Cavs (x2), Knicks, Magic, and Heat to close out the season.
After the victory over the Celtics, Atlanta sits with a 1.5-game lead over the 76ers for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
