Jalen Johnson will miss a second straight game with a left ankle sprain as Atlanta faces Washington on Wednesday night.

The Atlanta Hawks ruled out Jalen Johnson for Wednesday’s game against the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena. He will miss a second straight game with a left ankle sprain.

Atlanta’s player health update before tip-off listed Johnson as out. On Tuesday evening, the Hawks had him questionable. They handled Monday’s game against the Indiana Pacers the same way, listing him questionable the day before and ruling him out that evening.

Johnson went down in the third quarter of the Oct. 31 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans and never came back in. In 28 minutes before leaving, he had 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Through seven games, Johnson is averaging 18.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 7.9 assists. Monday was the first game he had missed this season.

Johnson made his first All-Star team last season. In Atlanta’s six-game first-round loss to the New York Knicks, he averaged 19.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists. He signed a five-year, $150 million extension in October 2024.

Tip-off in Washington is 7 p.m. ET. Atlanta News First and Peachtree Sports Network will carry the game.

Dort Starts Again in Johnson’s Place

Luguentz Dort replaced Johnson in the starting lineup Monday and starts again Wednesday. In the 108-104 win in Indianapolis, Dort scored 14 points in 31 minutes and went 4-of-6 from deep.

Kingston Flemings is also back after sitting out Monday on a one-game league suspension. The No. 8 overall pick makes his first career start. He takes CJ McCollum’s place in a group with Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Dyson Daniels, Dort, and Onyeka Okongwu.

Hawks coach Quin Snyder said after Monday’s game that the Hawks competed without Johnson, Jock Landale, and Flemings.

Landale, Gueye, and Veesaar Remain Sidelined

Landale is out with a left hip strain. He got hurt early in Saturday’s game at New Orleans and did not return.

Mouhamed Gueye has a left foot fracture. Henri Veesaar tore his right ACL and will miss the season. He was one of Atlanta’s three 2026 draft picks, along with Flemings and Zuby Ejiofor.

Wizards Injury Report

Washington has four players out. Reece Beekman has a right AC joint injury and will be re-evaluated in three weeks, according to the team. Justin Champagnie is recovering from right foot surgery, Tristan Vukčević has a left hip impingement, and Jamir Watkins is out after left ACL surgery.

Alex Sarr is available after missing Monday’s win at Orlando with left knee soreness. Deandre Ayton started at center in his place.

Bilal Coulibaly was a late addition to the report Wednesday with an illness. Wizards coach Brian Keefe called him and Sarr game-time decisions before the game, and both were cleared to play.

Anthony Gill, who had been listed with low back spasms, is also available.

Washington is 4-3 and leads the Southeast Division. Atlanta is 4-4, a half-game back.

Atlanta hosts Washington on Friday at 7 p.m. ET at State Farm Arena.
