The Atlanta Hawks delivered one of their most complete performances of the season on Wednesday, dismantling the Sacramento Kings 117–76 behind a dominant defensive showing, highly efficient scoring from their frontcourt and a decisive momentum swing provided by Vít Krejčí off the bench.
Playing without Trae Young, the Hawks leaned on their depth and collective execution to control the final three quarters. The turning point arrived early in the second period, when Atlanta transformed a close game into a runaway victory by outscoring Sacramento 29–12 and seizing a 20-point halftime lead. From there, the Hawks’ defense tightened further, holding the Kings to 22 points in the third quarter and just 36% shooting for the night.
Jalen Johnson once again operated as Atlanta’s centerpiece, nearly recording a triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists on 9-for-10 shooting. His control of the offense and ability to generate clean looks carried the Hawks through their early possessions before the rest of the rotation found rhythm.
Zaccharie Risacher supplied efficient scoring of his own, finishing with 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting as Atlanta repeatedly found ways to puncture Sacramento’s perimeter coverage. His off-ball movement and finishing complemented Johnson’s playmaking, helping the Hawks maintain pace even when the game slowed in the half court.
The most impactful shift, however, came when Krejčí entered and immediately altered the tone with a burst of perimeter shooting. In a span of minutes, he knocked down three consecutive three-pointers, each one widening the Hawks’ separation as the crowd’s energy intensified.
After his third straight make, Krejčí said he felt momentum tilt in real time.
“Once I hit those three 3s in a row, that's when I started feeling really good,” he said.
His final shot of the surge — a straightaway bank in the closing seconds of the half — pushed Atlanta’s lead to seven at that moment and set the stage for the second-half blowout.
Kristaps Porziņģis said the lift from Krejčí was exactly what the Hawks needed during a slow offensive start.
“We needed this spark from Vit. We just didn't have it early in the game,” Porzingis said. “But when Vit came in, he hit a few of those 3s and you saw not only his confidence, but the team's confidence just kept on building.”
Atlanta continued to pull away behind strong bench production. Onyeka Okongwu added 21 points on 6-for-7 shooting and 7-for-8 from the free-throw line, supplying control inside while helping the Hawks dominate the rebounding battle 47–36. Luke Kennard contributed 10 points, and Krejčí finished with 11 as the reserves extended the lead well into the fourth quarter.
Sacramento struggled to find consistent scoring throughout, committing 16 turnovers and generating few clean looks against Atlanta’s pressure. The Hawks’ performance pushed them above .500 and underscored their ability to generate disciplined, balanced offense even without their All-Star point guard.
The win also reinforced Atlanta’s growing identity — a team capable of winning through depth, defensive force and a steady flow of efficient scoring across the rotation.
