This is an intriguing trade idea.

A trade idea sending two Denver Nuggets players to the Atlanta Hawks has been created by NBA writer Cal Durrett of Hoops Habit.

Here are the details of the trade idea:

Hawks get: Zeke Nnaji, Cam Johnson

Nuggets get: Buddy Hield, Corey Kispert

"There is a lot to like for both teams, but would either team agree to the trade? The Nuggets get to turn a starter into two rotation players, save $7 million, and get off of Nnaji. That would be a great trade for Denver," Durrett wrote. "Meanwhile, the Hawks could consolidate Kispert and Hield into a better player in Johnson and save money long-term. They'd have to take back Nnaji's deal but would still be saving money in the trade.

"All told, this deal seems like a win-win deal for both the Hawks and Nuggets. With Denver looking to cut costs while remaining competitive, this might be a smart move for them. Particularly if they are looking to hold onto Watson."

The Nuggets and Hawks lost in the first round of this year's playoffs. Denver fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves, while the New York Knicks took out Atlanta.

Denver could make major roster changes this offseason around superstar Nikola Jokic. Johnson is one of the best 3-point shooters in the NBA and projects to be a great fit in Atlanta next to Jalen Johnson. Cam shot 43.0% from 3 this season. The more shooters around Jalen, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Dyson Daniels, the more explosive Atlanta's offense will be.

Cam has played for the Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets and Nuggets. He's a career 39.6% shooter from beyond the arc. That's the type of production Atlanta needs from the perimeter to take the next step in Quin Snyder's offensive system.

On top of being a great shooter, Cam is 6-foot-8, meaning he can guard positions 1 through 4. Defensive versatility is key to basketball teams having success in today's era. You have to be able to guard multiple positions and be an offensive threat to play late in games and Cam fits that bill.

It will be intriguing to see if the Nuggets make Cam available in trade talks this summer. If they do, the Hawks should strike a deal for the UNC product, who will make $23,062,500 next season in the final year of his deal.
