A blockbuster NBA trade idea sending Jalen Williams from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Atlanta Hawks has been created.
Fran Leiva of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade between the Thunder and Hawks:
Hawks Receive: Jalen Williams
Thunder Receive: Dyson Daniels, Zaccharie Risacher, Buddy Hield, 2026 No. 8 pick
The odds of the Thunder trading Williams are very, very low.
However, no one thought the Dallas Mavericks would trade Luka Dončić. Nothing can be ruled out in today's NBA anymore after the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Dončić from the Mavericks last season.
Williams will make $41.3 million next season. He doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. The All-Star forward averaged 17.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game for the Thunder this season while shooting 48.4% from the field, 29.9% from beyond the arc and 83.7% from the free-throw line. He's one of the top two-way players in the league.
Adding Williams to the Hawks' core of Jalen Johnson and Nickeil Alexander-Walker could make Quin Snyder's team a legitimate championship contender next season. That's three players who are strong players on both sides of the floor.
The Thunder lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals in seven games. Since Sam Presti is playing chess while everyone else in the NBA is playing checkers, a Williams trade can't fully be ruled out because Presti always seems to have something up his sleeve and Williams was injured during the 2026 playoffs.
Williams has career averages of 18.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in the regular season and 20.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.9 assists per contest in the playoffs. He's only 25 years old.
The Hawks lost to the New York Knicks in the first round in six games. They need another star next to Johnson and Alexander-Walker to compete for a championship.
With that said, let's see if Atlanta's front office takes Leiva's advice and trades for Williams this summer.
The Hawks ranked dead last in the NBA in isolation scoring this season (0.80 points per possession), shooting only 37.6% overall on their lowly 4.8 attempts per game. Adding Williams would make Atlanta more lethal offensively.
