Zaccharie Risacher is getting embraced by media at NBA All-Star weekend. On Friday, he competed in the Castrol Rising Stars contest, but was unfortunately unable to score in five field goal attempts. The former No.1 overall pick by the Atlanta Hawks in 2024 participated in the event for a second-straight season.
Recently, Risacher explained his sophomore season as having a lot of ups and downs, but that it's been hard for him to stay on the floor, and that he's still excited to be on the court with his new teammates, and is looking forward to the last two months of the season.
Yesterday, Zaccharie Risacher did a one-on-one interview with Maxime Audin of Lequipe and addressed recent trade rumors surrounding him:
“If you start overthinking, it becomes a nightmare.”
He is also still focused on being with the Hawks and giving his best effort to the team:
“No matter what happens, I’m ready to give everything for this jersey. It really means a lot to me to be able to grow and develop within this franchise that I love so much. And we’ll see what happens.”
Zaccharie Risacher has played in 42 games with the Hawks this season and has started all 42 of them. He's averaging 10.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game on 45% shooting.
The last handful of games before the All-Star break did cause Risacher's average to dip a bit, as he's averaged just 6.6 points in his last six contests. That includes a zero point performance and a 3 & 5-point outing in recent games.
It could be a confidence issue, or maybe Risacher is still laboring the injury that kept him our for nearly a month, but the Hawks will certainly need his services in the last couple months of the season if Atlanta wants to improve its conference seed.
As for the trade rumors, Risacher could be dealt if the Hawks obtain a top-four draft pick in the upcoming draft lottery.
However, that will be decided in the summer, and since the NBA trade deadline has passed, Risacher is safe for now.
