The Miami Heat need to add some size, but certain factors come into play.

The Miami Heat are coming off a tough four-game road trip, finishing 1-3 against Western Conference opponents. They finished it on Wednesday night in Denver, Colorado, against the Nuggets. The Heat have not won a regular-season game in the Mile High City since Nov. 30th, 2016. However, the biggest concern wasn't the loss, but rather the loss of their leader.

All-Star center Bam Adebayo exited the match early in the first quarter due to what is now known as a left great toe sprain. The good news is that it's not considered serious and he is listed as day-to-day; however, the ninth-year veteran is out for tonight's In-Season Tournament game against the Charlotte Hornets.

In his absence against the Nuggets, Kel'el Ware was the only center available. Erik Spoelstra had to go with Keshad Johnson, a 6'6 forward, playing backup. It exposed the lack of size on the roster.

The Heat did recall two-way center Vladislav Goldin from the Sioux Falls Skyforce, but that's a limited option because he's only allowed to play in 50 games of the regular season.

The team has a roster spot available, but due to being just $1.6 million below the luxury tax line and Terry Rozier's contract, plus the off-court situation, the organization is in a tough spot to fill it.

However, there's a potential pathway soon.

It's been reported that the Heat will wait until Dec. 13th to make a move, which is when they can add a player on a pro-rated veteran minimum deal, while also staying under the luxury tax line.

There are a few notable candidates that meet their needs.

It was reported during the summer that the Heat conducted a workout with Kai Jones. He was seen last season playing for the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks. The former first-round pick is listed at 6'11 with a 7'1 wingspan. Jones is also known for his athleticism, which makes him a lob threat. He's also 24 years old, which fits the Heat's timeline, and makes him a solid candidate.

Jones is currently with the Anadolu Efes Istanbul, a Turkish EuroLeague team. which includes an NBA buyout.

However, there are a couple of veterans available who could impact winning.

Bol Bol was originally selected by the Heat in the 2019 draft before getting traded to the Nuggets on the same night. He's listed at 7'3 with a 7'7 wingspan. Despite showing sparks of talent, especially with a unique frame, but hasn't been able to carve a consistent role.

Bol was with the Phoenix Suns last season and averaged career highs: 6.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and shot 52.5 percent from the field, 34.4 percent from three-point range in 36 games.

The six-year veteran could find himself in a full-circle moment. He's also 25 years old and an unrestricted free agent.

Finally, Trey Lyles would be another great fit for the team. He's currently playing for Real Madrid in the EuroLeague, averaging 12.8 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 48.9 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from three-point range.

The 30-year-old veteran signed a one-year deal abroad, which consists of an NBA buyout.

Lyles was with the Sacramento Kings last season and averaged 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and shot 42 percent from the field, 34 percent from three-point range in 69 games. He's 6'9 with a 7'1 wingspan. Lyles can stretch the floor and guard forwards and centers.

Each of these players provides size and a unique set of skills that would greatly benefit the Heat. They will have weeks to narrow down on a candidate and fulfill the team's needs.
