The Miami Heat are one team currently in an interesting situation when it comes to team-building. Last season, they traded Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline and it was unknown whether the team would head toward a rebuilding phase or try and contend in the Eastern Conference. The moves made last offseason didn't signal either mentality and the team finished as a Play-In team this time around. However, this offseason could be a time where the team makes multiple changes and moves on from a lot of the players on the roster.

On a recent episode of his podcast, Bill Simmons proposed a blockbuster deal sending three-time All-Star Bam Adebayo to the Charlotte Hornets. The proposal is:

Heat receive: F Miles Bridges, F Grant Williams, 2026 1st-round pick (lottery), 2027 1st-round pick (via Heat), 2027 1st-round pick (via Mavericks), 2029 1st-round pick

Hornets receive: C Bam Adebayo

A few days ago, Bleacher Report proposed a similar trade offer sending Adebayo to Charlotte. That trade includes Ryan Kalkbrenner and Josh Green instead of Williams along with two first-round picks and a first-round pick swap in 2030.

For the Heat, Bridges can be a serviceable forward opposite Andrew Wiggins for next season. He will be an unrestricted free agent following next season. The reason for this trade proposal, courtesy of Simmons, is to stack multiple first-round draft picks. If Adebayo is moved this offseason, it may not stop there. There are multiple contracts set to expire after next season, including 2025 All-Star Tyler Herro. He has been included in trade discussions all season long after the team did not extend him prior to the Oct. deadline.

Rather than selling Adebayo, it is expected the team will go big-fish hunting and attempt to acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. All signs have pointed to the team having a buying mentality, especially considering the team has multiple tradable first-round picks, young talent under contract for the foreseeable future and some hefty veteran contracts to match salaries.

Adebayo has been one of the anchors for the Heat throughout most of his career. After trading Butler, he has become the face of the team and it would be difficult to picture a scenario where Miami moves him this offseason, embracing a rebuild.
