The Miami Heat have a strong mix of veterans and young stars. The team has been consistent with their draft picks over the past few seasons. Players such as Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Nikola Jovic have proven their worth in the rotation with the latter already inking a rookie contract extension. Now, the Heat have the opportunity to add another young player with potential using their upcoming first-round draft pick.

Bleacher Report released their updated two-round mock draft. In their projection, Miami holds the No. 15 selection, just outside the lottery and select Texas Tech Red Raiders guard Christian Anderson. The 19-year-old's pro comparison is Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland, who has been a solid player since entering the league in 2019 but has struggled with injury concerns throughout his career.

"It's getting tougher to automatically cap Christian Anderson's ceiling due to physical or athletic limitations," the article wrote. "He's emerged as one of the top shooting prospects in the draft, now at 45.3 percent from three after making 8-of-10 against Baylor. A 33.5 assist percentage also reflects promising passing IQ, and though he isn't the flashiest playmaker, Anderson makes most of the right/basic kick-and-out and ball screen reads within a set."

Anderson is helping lead the Red Raiders to a strong season thus far. Texas Tech sits inside the AP Top 25 rankings at No. 12 with a 15-4 record. The guard is averaging 20.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 7.4 assists while shooting 49.2 percent from the field. Anderson was viewed as a three-star recruit in the class of 2024 ESPN recruitment rankings.

Miami has had trouble finding a true point guard over the past couple of seasons. Terry Rozier was supposed to be that consistent playmaker but his tenure in Miami had tailed off even prior to his arrest this season. If Anderson joins Miami, he would join another first-round pick in Kasparas Jakucionis and help bring stability to the backcourt. If Tyler Herro is on the trade block like many are predicting, then it seems increasingly likely the Heat target a guard with their first-round selection this offseason and that would make it two consecutive years with a guard selection.
