The Miami Heat are one team who could be active this offseason. After striking out at the trade deadline by making zero moves, the team will enter the offseason with a multitude of assets including both players and draft picks. There are plenty of expiring contracts coming off the books as well with Norman Powell and Terry Rozier's salaries. This free agency period for Miami is expected to be both active and important for the future of the franchise.

Bleacher Report released a new article, predicting every NBA team's top 2026 free agent target following the trade deadline. The Heat's prediction is not a single player but the current in-house options.

"The Miami Heat have grand designs," the article wrote. "They've been hoarding cap space for 2027 free agency while also chasing Giannis Antetokounmpo on the trade market. If Andrew Wiggins declines his player option, it could give the Heat around $30 million in cap space, but their longer-term plans suggest they won't turn around and spend it on anyone who'd clog the books beyond next season. So maybe the likeliest move will be bringing back Wiggins or fellow free agent Norman Powell on one-plus-one deals that could be appealing as trade assets. It'll be tough to thread that needle, but Miami has spent quite a while lining up the dominos for either a superstar signing in 2027 or a blockbuster trade. It won't wreck all those plans just to ink a mid-tier starter this summer."

Andrew Wiggins was included in trade discussions earlier this month but the team opted to hold onto him. He is having a resurgent season with Miami, putting up near career-highs with his shooting splits. His player option will be up this summer and there is a real decision to be made on whether to use him as a trade asset or view him as a strong part of the rotation if he picks up that option.

Powell made his first All-Star team this season and was the team's best offensive scorer for the early part of the season. It seems likely the team could opt to bring him back for another year or two. Also, a decision looms regarding Tyler Herro's future with the team given his contract expires following next season. Either way, the Heat will have plenty of big decisions to make especially when the team is planning on having a big 2027 free agency period.
