Heat's Tyler Herro Provides Huge Update On Return cover image

After undergoing surgery on his left ankle in September, Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is very close to his season debut.

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is on the cusp of a return, saying after Sunday’s practice that he is a week or two away from playing barring any setbacks after undergoing surgery on his left ankle in September.

Joined by teammate Bam Adebayo, who suffered a toe injury against the Denver Nuggets, Herro took shots, though neither player practiced.

“Yeah, it felt great, you know, just being out there with my teammates,” Herro said. “Being on the court with them for the first time all season. So, it felt great to be on the foot, rehabbing around the clock since my surgery; trying to get back as soon as I can.”

Herro’s surgery was performed to address posterior impingement syndrome. The timeline for his return was eight weeks, slating him for a mid-November comeback.

Herro will be making his debut after coming off a career year in which he averaged 23.9 points. Added responsibility fell on the shoulders of Herro and Adebayo last season during the dramatic saga brought on by Jimmy Butler that compelled the organization to trade him to the Golden State Warriors in February for Andrew Wiggins, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-round pick.

The Heat are 7-6 through 13 games without Herro and 3-2 without Adebayo since injuring his toe. They will host the New York Knicks and Jimmy Butler and the Warriors before going on the road against Chicago and Philadelphia.
