Ja Morant reportedly desires a move to South Florida. Could the Miami Heat exploit this trade opportunity to acquire the electrifying star?

The trade deadline is officially less than a month away, with the only blockbuster deal being Trae Young to the Washington Wizards. Also, with Giannis Antetokounmpo emphasizing his loyalty to the Milwaukee Bucks, the Miami Heat have limited superstars to trade for. However, it was reported that the Memphis Grizzlies are entertaining offers for two-time All-Star Ja Morant, likely to mark the end of a seven-year tenure.

The 26-year-old is averaging 19 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 7.6 assists while shooting 40.1 percent from the field, 20.8 percent from three-point range. Morant's value on the open market is similar to Young's, not very high. The Heat could take advantage, having the ability to match salaries, and potentially not give up any draft capital.

However, superstars have a say in where they go. It was reported that Young wanted to go to Washington; a separate report indicates that Morant desires to land in South Florida.

"I know he [Morant] wants to go down there," longtime NBA analyst Rachel Nichols said on the "Open Floor: NBA Show" on Tuesday.

Morant is set to make $39.45 million this season, with two more seasons remaining. The Heat could potentially work out a swap for All-Star guard Tyler Herro. Both were a part of the 2019 draft class, just 11 selections apart. Morant is an electrifying player with great athletic talent, but there are character concerns. It wasn't too long ago that his off-court situations were occurring, mainly involving social media.

However, the Heat are known to embrace big personalities, with six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler being the latest example, and find ways to win with them. Also, under the leadership of Erik Spoelstra, only the best will be demanded from Morant.

There have been moments in league history when players need a new environment to rediscover their love for the game of basketball, which results in tremendous production on the court. Morant has proven to be an excellent player who can also provide explosive plays.

The Heat need some changes after losing three consecutive games ahead of a three-game homestand, starting on Tuesday night against the Phoenix Suns.

With Herro's lack of availability and Bam Adebayo's regression offensively, the roster doesn't have the chemistry necessary to compete in the Eastern Conference. They currently sit with a 20-19 record, eighth in the standings.

A resurgence is needed, but it might not come from within the roster as currently constructed.
