The Miami Heat have prevented another losing streak with their 119-109 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night. The 76ers still hold the top Play-In tournament spot at the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference standings.
For the Heat, Tyler Herro was the leading scorer with 30 points. He continues his strong stretch of high-scoring performances since returning from injury. He has surpassed the 20-point marker in nine of his last 13 games. Also, Bam Adebayo scored 23 points along with 16 rebounds and six assists. Following Adebayo in terms of points scored was Pelle Larsson, who finished with 20 points. He has filled in admirably recently with the absences in the backcourt. Norman Powell was sidelined for a second straight game with his illness. Prior to his illness, he was battling back spasms as well. Powell has missed multiple games over the past couple of weeks and hopefully will fully recover this week prior to the Play-In tournament.
Miami ran with a nine-man rotation, with Jaime Jaquez Jr. earning the most minutes off the bench. He continues his strong campaign for Sixth Man of the Year with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists. The Heat and 76ers went back and forth in terms of lead changes. Miami led after the first quarter before the 76ers took the lead prior to halftime. The Heat had a lackluster third quarter and loosely followed the 76ers' lead. Philadelphia had a 107-103 lead with just over three minutes left in the game before Miami closed out the game with a 14-0 run to win.
For the 76ers, Joel Embiid led the team in scoring with 26 points. He recently returned to the 76ers lineup alongside Tyrese Maxey and Paul George. Despite the absence of all three, the 76ers have been clawing their way towards a playoff spot. They could be a team to face the Heat in the Play-In tournament.
The Heat are the No. 9 seed in the East. Andrew Wiggins recently returned to the rotation after missing eight games. Once Powell comes back in a more efficient way, they should be relatively healthy as a roster. Miami will next host the 50-25 Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
