LeBron James' announcement of joining the Miami Heat in 2010 shook the NBA world, as the then-two-time MVP decided to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in South Florida for a chance at championship glory.
14 years later, he has another huge decision to make...announcing an advertisement for Hennessy.
Yeah, you read that right.
James released a promo on Twitter titled his "Second Decision," which was set to drop on Tuesday at 12 p.m. EST. Speculations flared, with many believing this could be him retiring after 22 seasons in the NBA. Others thought it was just a marketing grab to get attention and views geared toward the Hennessy brand, or just get people talking.
Guess which one it was? Classic LeBron.
TAKEAWAYS FROM MIAMI HEAT'S LOSS OVER MILWAUKEE BUCKS
1. Speeding things up
A big talking point from Erik Spoelstra and the players throughout training camp and at the beginning of the preseason was pace. They alluded to wanting to get up and down the court more, which opens up the offense for easier buckets.
Throughout the Jimmy Butler era, the Heat finished in the bottom five in pace. The main reason was that the roster did not have the personnel necessary to go up and down the court consistently.
However, the team is a lot younger this year, which provides more speed. In last night's game, the Heat finished with 19 fast-break points, outscoring the Bucks, who had only nine.
It's a promising sign for the Heat to practice what they are preaching. If this trend continues throughout the regular season, the offense will look drastically different compared to recent years.
2. Powell finds his stroke
The Heat's acquisition of Norman Powell in the offseason gives him a better opportunity to adjust properly to the team's system. He's an elite scorer on all three levels, which provides a massive spark for them offensively.
The 11-year veteran is coming off an All-Star caliber season and is looking to take another step. In last night's game against the Bucks, Powell finished with 18 points, two rebounds, and three made three-pointers in 16 minutes of action.
The former champion found a rhythm offensively with the team at great efficiency. The best part for the Heat is that Powell is only getting started.
3. Jovic stocks rise:
The Heat have a ton of expectations for Nikola Jovic, who enters his fourth season in the league. The international prospect has shown flashes of his potential, but injuries have been a massive obstacle. He has been named a starter in both of the Heat's preseason games, which is likely to translate to the regular season.
Jovic had a tremendous performance, finishing with nine points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and no turnovers in 23 minutes of action. He handled the ball a lot, which isn't new, but he did an outstanding job of taking care of it. Jovic developing into a point-forward can help unlock more for the Heat's offense. The 22-year-old will play a strong role in the Heat's success throughout the regular season.
