According to NBA Insider Jake Fischer, the Los Angeles Lakers could target Miami Heat forward Andrew Wiggins

The Miami Heat could lose one of their key cogs to the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Lakers have interest in Heat forward Andrew Wiggins. Fischer said the Lakers are trying to build depth in the wing department.

"We've also heard for some time now that the Lakers know they need some improvements on the wing as well," Fischer said. "Andrew Wiggins has been a name that they were monitoring if Miami were to make him available."

Wiggins is in the middle of his first full season with the Heat. He was acquired last year from the Golden State Warriors in the Jimmy Butler trade. A former No. 1 pick, Wiggins would join LeBron James and Luka Doncic in Los Angeles if a deal is made.

This season, Wiggins has started 15 games. He is averaging 16.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists. The Lakers' interest makes sense because of Wiggins' value. He was a key member during the Warriors championship runs. He also gives them a solid complement alongside James and Doncic.

The signing could be the missing piece for James to make one final run at an NBA championship during his storied career. It would also push Doncic over the hump as he tries to join other elite players with title.

The move wouldn't necessarily impact the Heat, especially considering they already have a strong Big Three of Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo and Norman Powell Jr. The Heat will have one of the league's most talented trio once Herro returns from injury. He is expected back in the next few weeks.
