The Miami Heat are expected to make some big changes after missing out on the playoffs this season. They landed the No. 13 pick in next month's draft, giving them another asset to use in trade discussions. There are multiple names expected to be included in trade discussions such as Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard and Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant. However, there is another multi-time All-NBA talent who could be moved this offseason.

Bleacher Report released an article, creating a mock trade for every team with a lottery selection. For the Heat, the trade proposed lands them Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell. The trade proposal is:

Heat receive: G Donovan Mitchell

Cavaliers receive: G Tyler Herro, F Jaime Jaquez Jr., G Kasparas Jakucionis, the No. 13 pick and a 2032 first-round pick

"The Miami Heat need a bona fide offensive star next to Bam Adebayo," the article wrote. "And if the Cleveland Cavaliers flame out against the Detroit Pistons, Donovan Mitchell is one who might be available. This particular framework would give the Cavs more depth on the wings, give them an intriguing prospect in the backcourt and give them a couple bites at the draft apple. And while Miami's rotation would obviously be a little tighter, the team is long overdue for getting back into the superstar business."

The Heat will have plenty of players to target this offseason in a trade but none may fit cleaner than Mitchell. The 29-year-old has been one of the best pure scorers in the backcourt since he entered the league in 2017. After he was traded to Cleveland in 2022, his game upgraded to another level, earning four All-Star nods along with an All-NBA First Team selection in 2025 and an All-NBA Second Team selection in 2023.

Mitchell has been lightly included in trade discussions and there were rumblings this season that he could ask out of Cleveland if the team's playoff run fell flat. However, Cleveland is currently in the midst of a Eastern Conference Semifinals series against the Detroit Pistons and Mitchell has been one of the best players on the floor. Miami would have to give up a lot but it could be worth it given Mitchell's consistent stretch of success.
