The Miami Heat will be one team looking to make a big move this summer. After striking out multiple times for players such as Damian Lillard and Kevin Durant when they were both included in trade discussions, the Heat will have the opportunity to add a big-name star with their assets this offseason. The team has multiple tradable first-round draft picks along with a good amount of both veterans with hefty contracts and young stars who have value.
Bleacher Report proposed an offseason trade between the Heat and the Dallas Mavericks. The proposal is:
Heat receive: G Kyrie Irving
Mavericks receive: G Tyler Herro, F Jaime Jaquez Jr. and a 2031 first-round pick swap
"The Dallas Mavericks likely (and understandably) want to see how Kyrie Irving will play alongside Cooper Flagg before doing anything drastic, but turning a 34-year-old coming off a torn ACL into a 26-year-old, perennial 20-point-per-game scorer, a 25-year-old with potentially starting-caliber point forward chops and a first-round pick would be mighty tempting," the article wrote. "There's a lot of skill overlap between Flagg and Jaime Jaquez Jr., but the latter already has plenty of experience coming off the bench. He would make it easier for Dallas to play a consistent style when Flagg is off the floor. And Herro, with his catch-and-shoot prowess and secondary playmaking ability, could make life easier for both. For the Miami Heat, this is sort of a short-term fix, but Bam Adebayo can't be the only member of the organization who's sick of the play-in tournament. Pairing him with Kyrie and surrounding them with shooting would give Miami a good shot of rising above that mix."
The Heat have had plenty of backcourt woes over the past few seasons but bringing in a player of Kyrie Irving's caliber could help this offense drastically. Tyler Herro has reportedly been included in trade discussions for the last calendar year but with his injuries, it seems they haven't been able to find a potential trade partner. The Mavericks are headed towards a rebuild after moving Anthony Davis at the trade deadline and if they move on from Irving too, they'll have a young core headlined by Cooper Flagg and Herro.
The one tough pill to swallow for Miami would be moving on from Jaquez, who is having a quietly strong season. After his electric rookie season, his sophomore campaign was not the strongest. However, he has bounced back this year and is being included in Sixth Man of the Year conversations.
