The Miami Heat are one team expected to have a big offseason. The big name who is expected to have multiple suitors, including Miami, is Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, a deal for him would be expensive. There are other star-level players in need of a change of scenery who may not be worth as much as Antetokounmpo on the trade market.
Bleacher Report released an article, highlighting five potential bold blockbuster deals that could happen this offseason. The Heat were included and the article proposed a blockbuster deal:
Heat receive: F Zion Williamson
Pelicans receive: F Andrew Wiggins, F Jaime Jaquez Jr., 2026 first-round pick (projected No. 13 overall)
"Now seven years into his career, it's clear that Zion Williamson and the New Orleans Pelicans are going nowhere together," the article wrote. "Even with a mostly healthy season, the Pels are just 22-40 overall in Williamson's 62 games thus far. A clean break is needed for both sides. The Heat are desperate for a star to help get them out of the middle of the East and should feel confident in their ability as an organization to get the most out of the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 draft. The 25-year-old owns career averages of 23.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists on 59.1 percent shooting overall."
Williamson was once viewed among the league's best young players but his injury history and weight concerns have prevented him from fully becoming a top-20 player in the league. His time in New Orleans seems to be running out and the Heat could be a team to take a chance on the former No. 1 overall pick. Trading away Wiggins, Jaquez and a first is not a terrible haul to give up for a player who still has loads of potential.
"Pairing Williamson in the frontcourt alongside Bam Adebayo would give Miami one of the best big-men tandems in the NBA," the article added. "Filling out the rest of the roster with Tyler Herro, Norman Powell (free agent), Davion Mitchell, Kel'el Ware, Pelle Larsson, Kasparas Jakučionis and others would help punch the Heat a ticket to the playoffs next year as well. Miami should be willing to take a swing at a star, and Williamson won't break the bank."
