Miami Heat Legend Suggests Detroit Lions Need A Quarterback Like Shedeur Sanders cover image

The Detroit Lions missed the NFL postseason but an NBA legend blames it on quarterback play

Miami Heat legend Tim Hardaway recently chimed in on the Detroit Lions quarterback situation.

The Lions missed the playoffs this season under Jared Goff, which prompted Hardaway to suggest they should covet a mobile quarterback like Cleveland Browns rookie Shedeur Sanders.

Hardaway spoke about it on his podcast, calling out Goff's negative traits.

"When he's back there, you can tell he starts hearing them coming," Hardaway said of Goff. "He's like tap-dancing. He forgets where to throw it to."

The Lions, who used to have Matt Stafford, are still searching for their first Super Bowl victory. The organization has had quarterback issues for most of its existence. Hardaway said the Lions need someone like Lamar Jackson, who can impact games as a passer and runner.

"You have to draft a mobile quarterback just like the Ravens did with Lamar and sat my man down and started Lamar," Hardaway said. "You gotta go get him and that's a whole another conversation. You need a young quarterback and play with these guys and take it to the next level."

QUOTABLE

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra on the loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves: "We showed less of a spirit in this one. The one on Saturday, we had a spirit to fight all the way until the end. That's what is most disappointing to me as the head coach in the last six minutes. It just felt like we let it go. At that point we weren't going to win the game. When they knocked down those threes, once Randle hit that one, we were 16 of 48 or something like that in the paint at some point and then DiVincenzo hit two more threes, but still, what you have is your spirit, you just keep on fighting, not just let it go there at the end."

Bulls coach Billy Donovan on the loss to the Detroit Pistons: "We have to meet some of those rolls a little bit earlier, we gotta be a little bit more physical. We knew it was going to be a physical game. I think, I think there was a lot plays in the game that there were fouls that no fouls were called...for both teams. So I think it was a consistently officiated game across the board and I liked the way our guys physically competed..."
