The Miami Heat are expected to make a big move this offseason. There should be plenty of stars available in trade discussions but none are bigger than Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. The 10-time All-Star has been included in trade rumors all season and Miami reportedly was close to getting a deal done at February's trade deadline. However, the Bucks recently made a coaching change and it seems the team could be heading towards a rebuild by potentially moving Antetokounmpo this offseason.
CBS Sports released an article, ranking every team in terms of landing spots for Antetokounmpo. The Heat cracked near the top of the list at No. 4.
"Antetokounmpo has been linked to Miami for years," the article wrote. "The Heat tend to be alluring for stars, both for their market and their track record. But they've been a Play-In Tournament team for four years. Bam Adebayo is an All-Star, and he shares an agent with Antetokounmpo, but is he the sort of co-star Giannis would want? There's some positional overlap there, and at this stage of his career, it probably makes sense for him to play with a star scorer to manage his regular-season workload. Maybe Tyler Herro or Norman Powell could carry that burden."
In any deal for Antetokounmpo, the Heat would be parting with a ton of capital. The Heat definitely have the assets for a trade.
"Miami owes out its 2027 first-round pick, but is free and clear otherwise," the article added. "Lottery reform probably helps in this respect. The Heat are never at the bottom of the league, so their picks are better with flatter odds. Ultimately, though, the Bucks have to view Kel'el Ware as a future All-Star for this to make sense, because none of their other assets have centerpiece potential."
Herro and Ware make the most sense to be dealt. Herro makes sense due to his current contract situation. He had a breakout campaign during the 2024-25 season, earning his first All-Star nod. However, he missed a lot of time this season and Pat Riley has been reluctant to hand him a contract extension. He is only under contract for one more season and Miami may want to deal him while he still has a solid amount of trade value.
