Miami Heat will get another presence at NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles next weekend

Aside from Norman Powell Jr., the Miami Heat will also have another representative during NBA All-Star Weekend. On Saturday, it was announced Keshad Johnson is among those selected to compete in the Slam Dunk contest.

Here's the official release from the team:

The NBA announced today that HEAT forward Keshad Johnson has been selected to participate in the AT&T Slam Dunk Contest. Johnson will be the fifth Miami player to participate in the Slam Dunk event, joining Jaime Jaquez Jr. (2024), 2020 winner Derrick Jones Jr., two-time winner Harold Miner (1995 & 1993) and Billy Thompson (1990). The HEAT will now be represented each night during All-Star Weekend with Kel’el Ware playing in the Rising Stars game on Friday night, Johnson participating in the Slam Dunk competition Saturday night and Norman Powell playing in the All-Star Game on Sunday night. Additionally, two-way guard Jahmir Young will be participating in the AT&T G League Next Up Game and State Farm G League 3-Point Contest on Sunday afternoon.

Johnson has appeared as a reserve in 21 games, averaging 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 7.6 minutes while shooting 40.4 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from behind the arc and 76.5 percent from the foul line. Nine of his 23 buckets have been dunks. His nine dunks also rank sixth on the team. He has recorded one double-figure scoring game, one double-figure rebounding game and posted one double-double, all occurring in the 14-point, 11-rebound performance at Chicago on November 21. He has led the HEAT in plus-minus on six occasions. In two games while on G League assignment with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Johnson averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.00 steals, 2.50 blocks and 38.3 minutes. He scored in double figures in both games, secured double-figure boards once and registered one double-double.

The 2026 AT&T Slam Dunk will take place on Saturday, February 14 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.  The annual competition is part of NBA All-Star Saturday, which tips off at 5 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Johnson will join Carter Bryant (San Antonio Spurs), Jaxson Hayes (Los Angeles Lakers) and Jase Richardson (Orlando Magic) as this year’s contestants.
