The Miami Heat are set to make some big decisions this offseason. All signs are pointing to the team making a franchise-swinging move. The big name brought up in discussions is Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo but there could be other star-level players on the trade block who the Heat could decide to target as well.
Bleacher Report released their latest mock draft but with one big change. In the mock draft, they propose a trade between the Heat and Los Angeles Clippers.
Heat receive: F Kawhi Leonard, F Derrick Jones Jr., No. 36 pick
Clippers receive: G Tyler Herro, F Andrew Wiggins, No. 13 pick, 2030 first-round pick (top-four protected) and 2031 first-round pick swap
"And there it is," the article wrote. "The Herro hammer has dropped. It's a doozy of a deal, too, with the Heat tasking Leonard to be their missing (and highly sought-after) superstar, reuniting with Jones to fill Wiggins' two-way wing role, clearing a starting spot to re-sign Norman Powell and grabbing an additional second-round pick (they also have No. 41) to either sniff out two sleepers or perhaps package to trade their way back into the first round. The Clippers, meanwhile, grab Herro to form one of the league's most dynamic offensive backcourts with Darius Garland, have Wiggins to handle Leonard's vacated lineup spot and then really lean into the future-focused movement that dates back to their deadline subtractions of James Harden and Ivica Zubac."
Adding Leonard would certainly fit the quota of adding a star to the roster. A big concern regarding Leonard has been his health. The seven-time All-Star has only surpassed the 60 games played marker twice throughout his six-season career with the Clippers. If he can stay healthy, he has proven to be one of the best two-way players in the entire NBA and he just had potentially the best season of his career.
Right now, it is unknown what the future holds for Herro. Despite his success, Pat Riley and the front office declined to give him a contract extension in October when he was eligible. He missed a good portion of the season and now will enter next season as a contract year.
