Miami Heat's Davion Mitchell Already In Game Shape During Offseason

Miami Heat guard Davion Mitchell is serious about proving the doubters wrong. 

He has spent the whole summer working on his body so he arrives at training camp in the best shape of his career. All you have to do is check his social media account to see he is putting in the work. 

And the rest of the league is taking notice. Former NBA lottery pick D'Angelo Russell is becoming a huge fan of Mitchell and thinks he is a key part if the Heat are going to have success this season. 

Here's what Russell said on the Backyard Podcast: “Davion Mitchell — for everybody that’s keeping up with him this summer, the work that he’s putting in I think he’s going to take a huge step under that organization. I think he killed it and brought that energy last year and this year…”

The Heat need a solid season from Mitchell if they are going to compete in the Eastern Conference. They acquired superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks last month but missed out on the chance to sign LeBron James. He decided to leave the Los Angeles Lakers so he could team with Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown with the Philadelphia 76ers. 

The Heat gave up Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Kasparas Jakucionis, which caused many to suggest they gave up too much. The departure of All-Star Norman Powell was also a big loss. It leaves the Heat scrambling to find another scorer to complement Antetokounmpo and center Bam Adebayo. 

It would be a huge help if Mitchell not only contributes as a defensive-stopper but also shine as a facilitator and scorer. The Heat will need it because the East is stacked with teams like the 76ers, New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons.
