Miami Heat player Klay Thompson is already in the gym getting used to his new surroundings
Klay Thompson joined the Miami Heat so he can win another championship.
And he's willing to work as hard as possible to make it happen.
Proof of that was a video posted by the Heat social media page on X Thursday morning. Despite just arriving in South Florida two days ago, he was already at the practice facility at Kaseya Center putting in work.

The hope is Thompson serves as the perfect complementary player to forward Giannis Antetokounmpo and center Bam Adebayo. The Heat traded away shooters Tyler Herro and Kasparas Jakucionis in the deal for Antetokounmpo. They also lost All-Star guard Norman Powell to the Chicago Bulls during free agency.
While Pelle Larsson, Nikola Jovic and even Andrew Wiggins are solid perimeter players, Thompson gives the Heat one of the best shooters in league history. He brings instant credibility to a team that lacks outside scoring. His presence should also free up the paint for Antetokounmpo and Adebayo, who make up arguably the best frontcourt in the NBA.
The Heat will likely field a starting lineup of Thompson, Davion Mitchell, Andrew Wiggins, Antetokounmpo and Adebayo. That should give them a chance to compete in a strong Eastern Conference this season.
The defending champion New York Knicks returned most of their roster after knocking off Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals. There's also the Detroit Pistons, who were the No. 1 seed in last year's playoffs. The Cleveland Cavaliers are back with the core of Donovan Mitchell, James Harden, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen.
And then there's the strong starting lineup of the Philadelphia 76ers. In the offseason, they landed LeBron James and Jaylen Brown to join Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.
So the Heat are going to need as much as they can from Thompson to stay competitive.
