Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic struggled in his fourth season in the NBA
The year began with so much promise for Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic.
It eventually turned into disappointment.
Jovic recently spoke about the ups and downs of his fourth season in the NBA during exit interviews. He said it was struggle because he dealt with injuries and playing time issues.
"It was not easy especially with the injuries," Jovic said. "I feel like that was a big part of the year where I was not on the court this year. You just don't like it."
Jovic began the season in the starting lineup before his playing time decreased. He said it affected his ability to contribute.
"The other part, with my playing time," Jovic said. "It was a lot of ups and downs this year. I really thought it was going to be different with how things started. Things happen and I just got to be better."
He hopes to build more consistency entering next season if he's still around. The Heat are openly seeking options during free agency. While team president Pat Riley wants to keep his core, Jovic is one of the players who they could use as a trade bargaining chip.
"My playing time was so inconsistent," Jovic said. "I think I started the first game of the year. After that, I came off the bench. After a few games, my minutes just went down and down. I just couldn't find a rhythm."
DRAGIC RECRUITS GIANNIS?
Goran Dragic was one of the most beloved players when he played for the Heat.
Fans adored him during his tenure because of his play and personality. They may love him even more after what he did on his latest podcast. He recently had Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo as a guest to talk about his upcoming summer that could result in a trade.
First, Dragic asked about his plans.
"You know how I am," Antetokounmpo said. "We are loyal people. It's very hard for you to turn your back but at the same time you're competitive. You want to win. Everybody wants to win."
Then Dragic offered some suggestions of places Antetokounmpo should considered.
"Can I say something," Dragic said. "You're 31 years old, so you need to think about your knees, to be loose. You need a warm climate, man."
Antetokounmpo wasted no time in offering a response. It should give Heat fans reason to smile.
"Hey, Miami's not a bad place," Antetokounmpo said. "Beautiful, beautiful city."
