Miami Heat team president Pat Riley recently discussed the altercation between former teammates Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo

This has been a banner year for the Miami Heat in the offseason.

They successfully pulled off a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo with the Milwaukee Bucks. They're also in the running for LeBron James this summer.

The only blemish for the organization was the incident between former teammates Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo. Last week it was reported Adebayo struck Herro in the face while both were in Las Vegas.

The altercation was allegedly over some social media comments Herro made about Adebayo. Herro declined comment when asked about it by reporters while at the NBA Summer League. Adebayo's camp has been silent on the issue.

On Monday, Heat team president Pat Riley gave his thoughts on it during an appearance with Dan Le Batard.

“I didn’t like it for Bam," Riley said. "I didn’t even know he was upset because I read it, and I didn’t like what I read. Social media has consequences and he got offended by it. I don’t think they had time to talk about it.”

The incident was out of character for Adebayo, who is one of the most generous athletes in the South Florida community. It was even more shocking considering Adebayo was a big supporter of Herro while they were teammates.

The hope is both players can move past it and continue their solid careers. Now, Adebayo is paired with Antetokounmpo, which should give them one of the best frontcourts in the league. Herro is back in his hometown of Milwaukee, where he can play in front of family and friends. This also gives him a chance to be showcased as the No. 1 option because the Bucks are in full rebuilding mode.

For the Heat, they hope this story becomes a footnote the remainder of the year, especially if they acquire James to make them a contender in the Eastern Conference.
