Miami Heat team president Pat Riley addressed the media Monday

Miami Heat team president Pat Riley has no plans of retiring any time soon.

Despite some thinking he's done with his current job, Riley said he is remaining on staff for a long time. He spoke with the media Monday during his end-of-the-season press conference at Kaseya Center.

"A lot of inaccurate portrayals, coverage or whatever it is about me," Riley said. "I haven't talked to Micky since the end of the season. I had one long conversation with Nick after the exit interviews. I'm not going to retire. I'm not going to resign. I'm not going to step aside."

Riley has been with the Heat since the 1995-96 season. In that time, he has turned the organization into one of the top ones in the NBA. The Heat won their first title in 2006 under the leadership of Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal. He then helped orchestrate the signing of LeBron James and Chris Bosh to pair with Wade in Miami.

That team won two titles in four straight Finals appearances from 2010-14. Since, the Heat have played for a championship twice, in 2020 and 2023.

"When I came here, it was 31 years ago," Riley said. "I have the same attitude as I had in that press conference. I want another parade down Biscayne Boulevard. It may come, it may not. It's always been my desire to win. I would appreciate from all of you to respect of not going down that road. It's not going to happen unless something happens that I can't control."

The Heat have played in the Play-In Tournament in the last four seasons. Riley said he's frustrated just like the fans but hoping a change is made soon.

"I'm really pissed," Riley said. "I'm disappointed just like everybody else in the organization the last three or four years except for the 2023 season when we got all the way to the Finals. It's something that I'm not proud of. I'm always trying to compete. Whether you're doing it from a Play-In standpoint, the six seed or the top three or four, the imaginations are and your feelings about how you go about things are the same. We've always been a team that tries to win and competes to win."
