The Miami Heat are unsurprisingly involved in trade rumors surrounding Milwaukee Bucks superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Seemingly every time an All-Star-caliber player becomes potentially available for trade, the Heat find themselves listed as a destination. Antetokounmpo is no different and is arguably the best player Miami's front office has ever been connected to.
It appears the link between the Heat and Antetokounmpo is only growing stronger, as NBA analyst Bill Simmons revealed interesting intel in his latest podcast episode, saying, "Two different people mentioned this to me in the last 24 hours. I just wanted to mention this team, and it chills my bones. The Heat of Miami."
Acquiring Antetokounmpo would be incredible for the Heat. He is a two-time MVP who continues to perform as one of the NBA's best. The 31-year-old is averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists on 63.9% shooting but recently suffered a calf strain.
ESPN's Shams Charania: "Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to be sidelined for approximately 2 to 4 weeks with a right calf strain, sources tell ESPN."
Simmons continued, "Two different scenarios: one has Bam in it, which I think if you're doing this, you probably try and keep Bam [Adebayo], but pretty easily you can do the three brothers, Giannis and his two brothers. They have to be in the trade with Bobby Portis, and you get back [Tyler] Herro and Bam, [Kasparas] Jakucionis, who needs to leave Miami because he's a pick-and-roll guy and picks."
Given how hesitant the Heat were to part with their young assets in a trade for Kevin Durant, it's hard to imagine Adebayo is going to be moved in any deal. However, Herro has heard his name in trade rumors since his sophomore season.
"I think the more likely one [is the] three brothers [for] Herro, Ware, who's good, Wiggins, and picks. It's a three-for-one. Herro, I'm getting a top 45 guy in the league who can put up 25 a night. I'm getting a really good young center who I'm shocked by how much he's progressed this year, and I'm getting a bunch of picks and a tradeable contract in Wiggins," Simmons concluded.
This is not a bad return for Milwaukee, but there are teams that can offer a stronger package to the Bucks, including the Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, and Oklahoma City Thunder. With how valuable Antetokounmpo is, it's hard to imagine the second offer Simmons discussed getting the job done.
