It's been just over a week since Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo dropped 83 points on the Washington Wizards, seemingly out of nowhere.

So much so that Luka Doncic dropping 60 points against the Heat nearly went unnoticed. Adebayo joked about his historic performance in comparison to Doncic's night. The Los Angeles Lakers star shot 60 percent from the floor on 9-of-17 shooting from 3-point range.

"I know what it’s like to be in that mode," Adebayo said. "As people can see, it’s not easy to get to 80. He hit some tough shots."

And of course, NBA fans unleashed on Adebayo, still overly criticizing his career day for its purity.

Even for the legendary display, many are diminishing it because of the 43 free-throw attempts and the lackluster competition. Staying in the fourth quarter of a blowout against the Washington Wizards made many question the legitimacy of the performance.

Also, Doncic's 60 points are more in line with his typical performances. Adebayo, even for his recent dominance, isn't usually a huge scoring threat.

"I was positive this was a bait caption and it was no way he really said that. Might be the lamest quote I have ever seen in NBA history," one user tweeted.

And of course, Lakers fans still upset about Adebayo breaking Kobe Bryant's record were doubly furious that he compared himself to their current superstar.

Nevertheless, Miami has bigger fish to fry. A three-game losing streak has it back to the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, on track to once again be a play-in team.

The Heat play the Houston Rockets (42-27) on Saturday night.
