The Miami Heat are among the several teams that have interest in acquiring Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo during the summer

Not much has changed on the Giannis Antetokounmpo free agency front.

He wants to leave the Milwaukee Bucks. There are plenty of teams that are interested in acquiring him.

Now, it's just a matter of waiting to see what happens. NBA Insider Sam Amick of The Athletic recently gave sort of an update on the situation. He said the Miami Heat are among the top possible destinations.

Here's what Amick wrote: “There have been rumblings for quite some time now that Antetokounmpo would be open to the idea of a Heat relocation, and it doesn’t hurt that he wouldn’t have to pay state taxes in Florida (ditto for the Magic and the Rockets in Texas).”

Of course, there's still a long way to go. The NBA Playoffs have yet to reach the conference finals, which means a lot of time remains before the free agency period opens July 1.

The Heat have failed in their most recent attempts to build during the summer. They whiffed on chances to sign Damian Lillard, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in the past. Perhaps maybe this is the year team president Pat Riley and coach Erik Spoelstra pull the trigger.

The Heat will almost certainly have to part ways with some combination of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez, Norman Powell or Kel'el Ware. It's just a matter of if they want to wager so much on Antetokounmpo, who remains one of the best players in the league.

COULD D-WADE HAVE HELPED IN 2020?

Heat legend Dwyane Wade thought he had the perfect ending to his NBA career.

After 16 seasons, he was able to hold a retirement tour in his final season. He even called it, "One Last Dance" to commemorate his Hall of Fame career. Wade's feelings changed once the Heat made an improbable run to the Finals the following season during the "bubble" season in Orlando.

"I do not regret the `One Last Dance," Wade said on his network. "It was incredible. But I was in my theater room watching all the `Bubble' games and I was like, `Maybe as a player off the bench that I could play 15 minutes and could just come in. I'm sitting here at the crib and I wouldn't have to travel. My knee wouldn't have swollen as much. When you travel on an airplane, the inflammation, that's why you're out every game. I was like, `Oh, I would've been able to just focus on basketball.' I probably would've been feeling good."'
