Bam Adebayo chases franchise history while Klay Thompson targets the all-time three-point ranks, fueling championship expectations for Giannis Antetokounmpo and a revamped, high-stakes roster in South Beach.
MIAMI, Fla. – The Miami Heat are guaranteed to break a few all-time and franchise records during the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season.
Starting from within the organization is three-time All-Star Bam Adebayo. He is currently 36 rebounds behind Udonis Haslem from becoming the franchise’s all-time leading rebounder. The three-time NBA Champion first made the top of the list on Nov. 21, 2012.
Haslem is one of three players in league history, along with Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki, to spend 20 seasons with one franchise. He arguably has the most successful undrafted story. Haslem plays a significant role in the Heat’s history, including all three championships.
Adebayo understands firsthand what the 46-year-old means to the organization. Haslem mentored him during his last seasons in the league. Adebayo still has a strong personal relationship with the legendary Miami native. Haslem will likely be in attendance when or after the record is broken.
Next, Klay Thompson is 75 three-pointers away from surpassing two-time NBA Champion and Hall of Famer Ray Allen for third on the league’s all-time three-pointers made list. The 36-year-old is one of the best shooters in history. Thompson is currently sitting at 2,899 three-pointers made and counting.
Allen spent two seasons with the Heat before retiring from professional basketball. He won a National Championship and carved out one of the most historic shots made in league history. Thompson’s arrival in South Florida has drawn comparisons to Allen from the 2012 summer. Both joined the Heat in the late stages of their careers and look to contribute to a championship contender.
Thompson has the opportunity to climb a historic list, but the main goal is the Larry O’Brien trophy.
Finally, Erik Spoelstra is three wins from surpassing Cotton Fitzsimmons, then 32 more from surpassing Hall of Famer Jack Ramsay on the league’s all-time head coaches' wins list.
Along with having an eventful offseason, plus receiving 31 nationally televised slots, the Heat are among the early favorites to win the Eastern Conference. Each of these records could be broken with the entire country on watch. After landing Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster trade, the Heat will be under a microscope.
There are championship-or-bust expectations surrounding the organization, not just from the inside. Thompson, Adebayo, and Spoelstra are already engraved in the league’s history books, but all records are meant to be broken. The Heat will have more highlights as the 2026-27 season progresses.
