The Miami Heat are one team expected to make a franchise-swinging trade this offseason. The big name consistently brought up is Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has been included in trade talks all season long. However, if the Heat want to add some contributors without parting with too much talent, there are some more under-the-radar names who the Heat could look to add. Here are a few of those names to keep an eye on this offseason:
1. Patrick Williams, Chicago Bulls
Williams, 24, was a high draft pick for the Bulls, being selected at No. 4 in the 2020 draft. He hasn't quite lived up to those expectations but early on in his career, he established himself as a solid two-way forward. In the 2024 offseason, he signed a five-year, $90 million rookie contract extension which, at the time, was viewed as a massive overpay. However, he is still young and is what the Heat need at the forward position: some great defense and a player who can make some shots from beyond the arc. This season, Williams played in 72 games and shot 34.7 percent from three-point range. The contract may detract fans from wanting Williams but a change of scenery could be all he needs to get his career back on track.
2. Caleb Martin, Dallas Mavericks
How about a reunion with a fan favorite from the iconic 2023 playoff run? In 2024, Martin signed with the Philadelphia 76ers following his impressive tenure in Miami before being shipped to Dallas for Quentin Grimes. Martin's tenure in Dallas has been largely forgettable as his shooting numbers plummeted after the trade. He also only played in 58 games this season. However, despite the apparent decline of his game, Erik Spoelstra has a history unlocking Martin and knowing how to include him in his rotation. Martin is set to make $10 million this upcoming season with a $9 million player option for the next. He may not be a flashy name but a return is something that should not be ruled out, especially considering the Mavericks' recent woes and how they could be a selling team this offseason.
3. Devin Carter, Sacramento Kings
Carter, 24, was drafted in the first round in 2024 but missed a good portion of the first two seasons of his career due to injury. The injuries have been concerning so far and with the Kings being a bottom Western Conference team, there could be a real possibility he is dealt this offseason as part of a fire sale. He was abysmal from three-point range these past two seasons but a change of scenery could be in store for a once highly-touted prospect out of Providence.
